About Dr. Jonathan Brower

head shotDr. Jonathan Brower is a licensed psychotherapist with over thirty years of clinical practice. Since 1999, Dr. Brower has provided Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy for anxiety and depression. He is an author, speaker, and national radio host. His life purpose is to help you unlock the unconscious experience so you no longer have to hide or punish yourself for simply being who you are.

Raised by a mother struggling with high anxiety and a father with dysthymia, also known as chronic mild depression, young Jonathan Brower was deeply affected by the very real and disturbing reality of his parents’ disorders. By the age of 16, Jonathan was devouring books by and about Sigmund Freud to help him make sense of the most important people in his life – his family. This interest led to a lifetime of education earning him a PhD in Sociology with an emphasis on Social Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Realizing the tremendous healing power of psychotherapy, Dr. Brower immersed himself in his studies to earn a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at California State University, Dominguez Hills. From there he committed himself to completing 3,000 hours of supervised therapy and passing the proper written and oral exams to receive his license as a therapist.

Dr. Brower opened the doors to his private practice in 1984. He started rigorous training in 1996 to specialize in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, helping individuals, couples, and families discover the underlying causes linked to anxiety, depression, and stress. His work enables his patients to open their hearts and minds to their own mysterious behaviors and find the answers that will lead to a better life.
